Donate to Our General Operating Expenses
Throughout the academic year, and into the summer months, Project 10 East serves as a resource to youth in the Boston metropolitan area. GLBT youth come to us to plan activities, discuss problems, and share successes. Work like this requires general operating money—for services like an 800 number that youth can call whenever they need to talk to someone; for this website which serves as a hub of the GSA community; and of course for our kind, caring and well-trained staff.

Fund a GSA
Starting and maintaining Gay-Straight Alliances in local area high schools is one of the most time-consuming and challenging things a teacher or administrator can do. P10 East serves as a resource for all who are engaged in creating safe space in local schools. To accomplish this goal, we send interns out to the schools, create activity curriculum, staff regional conferences and offer funding for GSA activities. We need your help to maintain this level of service—a gift of $250 supports one GSA for an academic quarter.

Help Us Revise Our Curriculum
We’re very proud of our GSA curriculum, and we believe it presents the best model yet developed for working to support GLBT youth and train them to be the community leaders of tomorrow. But the current edition was created in 2005—in a world without YouTube, Facebook, or iPhones! We need to continually update our work to keep in step with the changes in young people’s lives. This will require many hours of additional research and development by our staff and volunteers, as well as additional supplies and materials. Since we have low overhead and depend so much upon talented volunteers who give of their time to help in our work, you can fund an entire week’s work on this vital project for just $200.

Host a Fundraising Event
How, you ask? These are all the tools you need: friends and fun! Here are some ideas for parties that you can host to help spread the word about P10E:

1. A Sunday Brunch: Ask everyone to bring their favorite breakfast food and a small contribution to P10E. Ask us to provide some materials or a speaker.
2. A House Party: Same idea as above but in case you are a night owl, plan your party for the evening!
3. Bake Sale: Have fun baking all sorts of treats and then sell them in your community or school. This type of fundraiser is great as it helps larger communities know more about P10E (as well as eat some chocolate).
4. Choose your own adventure: You know that works best with your friends—it could be a dance party, a dinner party or a slumber party! All we ask is that when you plan your event, think about how you and your friends can have fun and make an impact in the lives of GLBT youth in and around Boston.

Whatever you do, let us know about all your great and creative ideas by emailing ed@project10east.com. We would love to hear from you!

Become a P10E Intern
Every year we are faced with a similar problem: many schools in need of our support and not enough interns! Our interns are the foundation of our program, going out to area schools and aiding in the implementation of safe space. After significant training with P10E’s staff, the interns are able to serve as the resource to teachers and administrators. Their role is one of the most integral and most difficult to fill.

If you are interested in becoming a P10E intern, consider the following, and contact us at ed@project10east.com.

1. Interns need to be at least 18 years old.
2. We ask that interns make a semester-long commitment.
3. Interns are responsible for their own travel to their assigned schools.
4. This type of role CAN count for class credit if approved by your college or university.
5. Helping youth is some of the most rewarding work anyone can do—so if you are looking for a volunteer position that is both challenging and fulfilling, you have found it!

Become a P10E Volunteer
Whether your talents lie in event planning, writing, public speaking, knitting, baking, filing, or almost any other transferable skill, we will find a home for you at P10E! Please contact us at ed@project10east.com—we can’t wait to hear from you!

Send Us Your Ideas for Creating Safe Space
Has your school or community done something really innovative or really effective? Project 10 wants to know all about it! Email us at ed@project10east.com, and while you are at it, let us know if we can share your experiences with the GLBT community.

Get Your Local Club/Organization to Sponsor Us
Is your club looking for a great project to get behind? Well, look no further—you have found it. Project 10 East receives significant funding from area schools and performing groups that want to support our mission. Whether you are producing a play, organizing a dance or just trying to help out the community, keep us in mind—every little bit helps us help youth.

Send Us a Message with Your Personal Experience
Preferably one we can share with others who may be working through similar issues (parents, family, friends and teachers—this goes for you too!)

Chances are there have been times when it would have been easier if you just knew that someone else out there was going through the same thing as you. One of our most important goals is to create a community, both actual and virtual, that connects people when they need to feel connected!
